Did you notice that we missed our July newsletter?
We’re sorry! The usual suspects were all on the road, and July turned into an exceptionally busy month. Over the past several weeks, we have traveled throughout the Pacific Northwest, Chicago, and even Vanuatu, meeting with partners, encouraging ministry teams, and witnessing firsthand what God is doing in different parts of the world. And simply relaxing while enjoying God’s creation.
Summer has always been a season for creating memories and investing in experiences that are different from the routines of the rest of the year. Many of us can look back on childhood summers with special fondness.
As a child, my family often hosted Child Evangelism Fellowship’s Five-Day Clubs in our backyard. My brother and I spent countless hours building a puppet theater, writing scripts, and preparing Gospel presentations to share with the neighborhood children. Many churches continue this tradition today through Vacation Bible Schools, creating opportunities for children to hear Bible stories, sing songs, and experience the love of Christ in a fun and welcoming environment.
That is why we were especially excited to see our ministry team in India host Vacation Bible Schools this summer in three different communities. Each location welcomed approximately forty children, and many mothers stayed to participate alongside them, creating opportunities to connect with entire families.
Throughout the week, the children learned Bible songs and explored familiar stories of faith, including David and Goliath, the call of Samuel, and the Good Samaritan. With the theme that “Jesus loves you”, these historical lessons demonstrated how God loved the people then, so He can also love you now.
To help meet practical needs, a nutritious lunch was served each day, and every participant received a new towel as a gift. For many of these children, their entire families share a single towel and these simple expressions of care communicated God’s love in tangible ways.
