In a small village in Uttar Pradesh, Sushila, a wife and mother of three from a very poor Dalit family, lived a life marked by hardship. Raised to follow the traditional religious practices of her community, she faithfully worshiped many gods and goddesses. But several years into her marriage, her life took a troubling turn. She began experiencing violent episodes — screaming, collapsing, and lashing out so intensely that several people were needed to restrain her. Her family believed she was possessed, and soon the entire village was whispering about her condition.

Her husband spent what little they had seeking help—from temples to witch doctors to fortune tellers across Uttar Pradesh. Each promised relief. None delivered. Instead, the family sank deeper into poverty and fear. Their children were frightened of their own mother, and peace disappeared from their home.
In the midst of this despair, a relative told them about our tailoring training center, explaining, “They not only teach tailoring—they also pray.” Sushila was not searching for a new religion; she was desperate for peace. When she first arrived, her condition was severe. She had to be brought tied with ropes, restrained by several family members because of her violent state. Everyone who saw her felt deep compassion.
Our tailoring teacher immediately called a local pastor, who began praying for her and encouraged the family to bring her back regularly. Over the next several days, he continued to pray and fast on her behalf. Gradually, visible changes began to take place. She grew calmer. The violent episodes decreased. Within a week, she was completely restored—peace replacing fear in her heart.
Today, Sushila attends tailoring classes regularly, sitting peacefully and learning with dedication. She comes daily for prayer and faithfully attends church. She has chosen to follow Jesus and now walks in faith and joy. Her husband supports her and joins in prayer. Their children are no longer afraid. Peace has returned to their home, and neighbors who once whispered now marvel at her transformation.
Sushila continues her training, and we pray that soon we can provide her with a sewing machine so she can earn income and help support her family.
Her life has been transformed—from fear to faith, from darkness to light, from suffering to peace.
This is more than one woman’s story. It is a testimony that prayer brings real and lasting change.
