Health, Tailoring and Transformation
This past two months, we have already recruited the next two Community Health Workers. One is a former worker of the government and has brought her experience to the job as well as what she learned from our nurse-led training.
We now have four full-time Community Health Workers and four new Clean Water Businesses launched from this year alone!

We also held two graduations of tailoring schools. Three of our recent graduates have already purchased sewing machines and started to make money. These women make almost double their family’s monthly income with tailoring added to their daily work. The family unit becomes stronger and women are valued.
Some of the women will start a sewing centers of their own in their home towns completely on their own. One woman charges a small amount for the women in her village to come and learn. As a result of her successful business, she is making more money then her husband. She is now the primary earner of her family, which is extremely rare for women in India, much less in rural communities.

We are happy to report that about 20-25% start their own businesses, but all students sew their own clothes and the clothes of their families which saves them several rupees each month. This small change in their expenses is vital at such a low income.
