Giving a Cup of Cold Water
We have identified ten people, including Aarin (not actual name), who were 66 pounds or similarly mal-nourished. The other nine women are younger and single; Aarin is married and has three young kids to look after.
We are beginning in April to get emergency nutrition to these women. Thank you to all who responded to our last email! As of writing this, our partners are distributing the nutrition mix consisting of two pounds of mineral and potassium-rich Mana Mix and one pound of protein powder, a strategic weight gainer.
This will be the pilot program for the next six months. Our partners will closely monitor Aarin and the other women every fifteen days when they visit the village on their monthly circuit and record weight, height, and other vitals. At the end of the six months, we will evaluate and see if she is gaining healthy weight; if not, she likely has another health issue that needs addressing.
If this works, we plan to expand the nutrition program to other villages. We will record weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, and oxygen levels each visit and will have this data available for doctors if our workers find further health issues. We will also document children and begin official birth certificates and complete health records for all.
This emergency nutrition program will cost us about 150 US dollars a month. Will you step in and help us meet the immediate need and support these ten women?

With excellent documentation, we will evaluate each step, get more tests and equipment, and have a second round of training where we might be training full nurses soon. We now check their oxygen level, blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, and height. Other tests must go through a lab, so we may not be able to do that yet because of the accessibility of these facilities in rural areas. We are currently doing these three tests and maintaining each patient’s data and a visual record.
We hope to launch two more full-time CHWs and increase our reach and the number of villages we can cover at one time as well as supply our Vocational Training Centers with fully stocked first aid kits so that supplies are always in the village even when our current CHWs are on their rounds in other villages. Medicine is not accessible for miles, often days of travel, from the village and completely out of reach of their income. Establishing two more full-time trained workers would cost about $800 US dollars.
Can you step up to the plate and help us in this vital ministry?
