Emergency Nutrition Success!

Emergency Nutrition Brought to Women in Need

Aarin is the mother of three children and weighs 66 pounds, 33 pounds less than she should. We discovered nearly ten women in two villages who are very malnourished, which motivated us to start the ‘Health Nutrition Project’ under the Community Health Worker banner.

Above is a picture of the nutrient supplement “Mana Mix” and a protein powder (in the cylinders) as our partners prepared it for distribution to the two villages.

One of the dangerously malnourished women who came to our community health worker for a routine check-up. God enabled us to reach her and Aarin in time.

The Results:

Thanks to the quick action of donors, we were able to research the right supplements, mobilize our partners on the ground and distribute the life-saving nutrition mixes to all nine women. A few of them are pictured above immediately after having received the supplements. Thank you to everyone who gave and responded to the urgent need!

What’s the plan from here? From here on out, our Community Health Workers will monitor the weight of these nine women for the next six months. They will make sure the supplements are used in the correct amounts and have the desired effect.

At the end of the six months, if health problems persist, our workers will continue to the next step and help them seek treatment at a facility in the city. Our workers keep meticulous records for each patient and will provide them to the doctors at that time. We are already seeking more long-term solutions to malnourishment in the villages.
